Ski or Sled
Located just 20 miles east of Ten Sleep in the Big Horn Mountains, Meadowlark Ski Lodge provides winter fun for the whole family. With two lifts and fourteen different runs, the Meadowlark Ski Area can be enjoyed by the beginner, intermediate and advanced skier or snowboarder. The lodge offers rentals, lessons, a restaurant with a full-service bar and large cozy fireplace where you can warm up between runs.
The Big Horn Mountains are also a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. American Snowmobiler rated the Wyoming’s Big Horn Mountains among the “top 10 areas for snowmobile trails” in the nation. With 387 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, the Big Horn Mountains offers a variety of routes. The trails system follows close by US Highway 16 with gas, food and lodging at both ends in Buffalo and Worland.
For less experienced snowmobilers, the trail from Deer Haven to West Ten Sleep following the “A” trail covers a 15-mile long round trip. For a bit of a longer ride, the “D” Loop includes a 25-mile round trip. For a complete list of all of the trails in the National Forest, consult the USDA Forest Service.
Wyoming law requires that all snowmobiles must have either a current Wyoming Resident or Nonresident user fee decal prominently displayed on the outside of each snowmobile. Each permit costs $25 and may be purchased at one of the several Permit Selling Agents located throughout the state. Additionally all commercial snowmobile operated in the State of Wyoming must have a commercial permit.
