Ten Sleep Canyon, located just outside of the small town of Ten Sleep, has become one of the country’s premier summer sport climbing destinations in recent years. Nearly 1,000 dolomite routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.14 attract climbers from around the globe to visit the area annually. Great camping, a welcoming atmosphere and a growing number of climber-oriented services are helping boost the area’s reputation as a top place for sport climbers to visit in the summer.
Most of the popular climbing areas in the canyon offer routes spanning in difficulty from 5.10 to 5.13, making it easy for climbers of varying ability levels to plan a fun day together. Mondo Beyondo is perhaps the best known and highest developed crag in Ten Sleep Canyon and the limestone routes are ideal for the beginner to intermediate climber. Climbers can look forward to cooler midsummer temperatures than most U.S. climbing areas boast, with the peak season running from June through September.
